摘要
The application of Corona technology in the finishing processes of cellulosic fabric is an innovation in the European textile industry. A Corona discharge is created between two electrodes at high voltage and frequency of 20 - 40 kHz and affects the surface of a fabric running continuously in the discharge field at ambient pressure and temperature. This paper presents the newest results of research on the properties of linen fabrics before and after Corona treatment. Fabrics after Corona treatment have novel and better properties, also making finishing processes much easier. The quality of fabrics after Corona treatment can be improved in important aspects related to the safety of with users. The wettability of cellulosic fabrics improves significantly after Corona treatment. A new "in-line" step of Corona treatment in the finishing process allows the elimination of initial washing without a detrimental effect on the quality of the finished fabric, enabling good results to be obtained in bleaching and evenness of dyeing for some kinds of dyestuffs. Corona treatment provides better end-use properties at lower cost and with less harm to the environment.
