Surveillance for stage 1 (overtly non-metastatic) germ cell tumours

摘要：
Surveillance is a standard form of management in many centres for patients with stage 1 non-seminomatous germ cell tumours of the testis who lack high risk factors. Patients who are reported to have vascular or lymphatic invasion by an experienced pathologist have about 40% chance of relapse and should be considered for adjuvant chemotherapy. Provided a close surveillance programme is adhered to, survival exceeds 98%. A surveillance programme is now also gaining acceptance for stage I ovarian germ cell rumours.
