摘要
Using ring-diagram analyses, we investigate the persistence of large-scale flows present in the upper convection zone of the sun. We use full disk SOI-MDI observations to discover that the gross features of the zonal and poleward meridional flows are preserved between consecutive rotations, except within the thin surface shear layer. Within that shear layer, the flows from one rotation to the next do not resemble each other. Furthermore, we briefly discuss benefits of using high-resolution SOI-MDI measurements in conjunction with full-disk observations.
