摘要
The Ministry of Tourism in Jordan with the support of international funding agencies is targeting many of the historical sites in major cities of Jordan trying to bring life back to these sites. Regeneration of historical sites is impacting the life style of residents, in addition to economic and social consequences that are less likely to be foreseen prior to the implementation. This research work aims at exploring the satisfaction of the citizens of As Salt City after the implementation of Al Hammam street project down town the City. Along the research, the decision making process and the public involvement is examined to investigate whether or not the culture of public participation is exercised in this project. Results showed that most stakeholders (residents; pedestrians; and business owners) were not involved in the decision process and they are not happy with the outcome of the project, although they have no common agreement in setting their concerns and priorities. Recommendations include encouraging authorities to involve public in the decision making process for such projects to avoid drawbacks and shortcomings, and consider their various needs.
