Distribution and accessibility of the community pharmacies:: An approach to the pharmaceutical care.

An analysis of the distribution and accessibility of the community pharmacies was carried out in the fifteen municipalities of Havana City, with the object to know if it is possible the implementation of programs of Pharmaceutical Care. The types of pharmacies of the municipalities were identified and the indexes of pharmacies per inhabitant pharmacies per 10 000 inhabitants and family doctor's office per pharmacy were estimated in the municipalities and in health areas. Ranges were established in some of the mentioned indexes with the purpose of analyzing the geographic distribution of them in the health areas. The results obtained show a great heterogeneity in the distribution of the pharmacies in relation of the number of inhabitants in the municipalities. It is to note that this difference becomes more acute in some health areas of the city.
