A Reputation-Based Trust Model In P2P Computing

In P2P environment, nodes can play both the roles as a user and a service provider. When a node as the user requests a service to the service provider, it does not know whether the service provider is honest or malicious. In this paper, we propose a reputation-based mechanism to alleviate the threat of malicious and selfish nodes to the system. In this mechanism, we introduce a number of different computable metrics based on the different roles of peers to measure the trustworthiness of peers, and provide a way to choose reliable service providers. We suggest that economic service providers desire to maximize their profits, and so introduce a number of ways which lead to economic service providers to maximize their profits. Simulation results demonstrate that economic nodes in the mechanism can secure a stable customer satisfaction. In contrast the malicious nodes will be inhibited. The mechanism is also incentive servers to provide quality services to the users.
