The connection loss between single-mode fiber and photonic crystal fiber (PCF) is analyzed by using a full-vector finite-element method. PCF parameters for achieving low loss connection (for example, less than 0.5 dB) are reported. (C) 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
