Electrochemical reactivity in room-temperature ionic liquids

摘要
A review on the electrochemical reactivity in the nonhaloaluminate ionic liquids is given while a focus is done on the suitability of electrochemical methods in relation to such investigations. The physicochemical properties of room-temperature ionic liquids (RTILs) has been discussed with an emphasis on the matters that could influence the electrochemical reactivity in solution. Then, the electrochemical reactivity itself has been studied which includes the fundamental research related to it that are examined with such electrochemical methods. Also, the different general classes of reactions are investigated to show the differences in the main reactivity between the RTILs and conventional solvents. Furthermore, heterogeneous and homogeneous electron transfers are both described as well as the classical reactions that are being triggered by an electron transfer. Lastly, the applications of ionic liquids in bioelectrochemistry, in electrosynthesis, and in organic material preparation have been investigated.
