摘要
The gastrointestinal (GI) fill in horses and its variation was determined in postmortem investigations using 103 adult animals which were fed various diets. The average GI fill amounted to 13,5 +/- 4.0% of bodyweight. The Variation of the GI fill was mainly related to the water content of the gastrointestinal tract which contributed 85 to 90% of the total fill. With equal amounts of DM intake roughage induced higher amounts of water in the GIT (ns), while feed restriction (100 hours) did not reduce GI fill (increased amount of water).
