摘要
Software Defined Networks (SDNs), constitute an approach of high interest for researchers, because they offer agility and flexibility in design, deployment and management of communications networks. Thanks to their centralized and holistic control, it is possible to establish and offer traffic flows with guaranteed quality of service (QoS). Thus, SDNs allow network operators to have certainty about assurance performance levels offered to users, with infrastructure-independent central configuration mechanisms. In this article, we analyze the performance of a controlled experiment comparing implementation of QoS policies in traditional networks and SDNs. In particular, there is a statistically significant improvement in performance metrics when QoS policies are applied in SDNs.
