摘要
This paper discusses urban development in the SIJORI Growth Triangle and its economic basis. It then considers its sustainability and social dimension. The prospects for sustainability depend on how economic and social change affects, and is affected by, changing labour market structures, the characteristics of labour, labour organisation and their impacts on social relations. Urban development in and beyond this context does not yet appear to be socially sustainable. A positive dynamic in the relations between urban economic base, labour market development and labour characteristics is necessary, as are the relations between the different aspects (economic, social and political) of sustainability.
