摘要
This is an epidemiological and cross-sectional study. It was interviewed 288 women with up to six months of the postpartum period, who were attended in a health service in Sao Paulo city. The aim of this study was to characterize the occurrence of the self-reported urinary incontinence in women by the postpartum period. The results showed that among the 71 women self-reported with incontinence, 20 (28%) reported that the unintentional lose of urine interfered with their daily lives; 38 (53.5%) were primiparous; 277 (96%) were not oriented on the preparation of perineum in pregnancy or in the postpartum period. It was found that the postpartum women do not report on the occurrence of urinary incontinence to the health professional and those who do not receive treatment. Pregnancy and postpartum are important moments for the prevention of this morbidity.
