摘要
This study compares the satisfaction rate and the effectiveness of transcervical hysteroscopic endometrial resection (HTER) and thermal destruction (TD) of the endometrium in the treatment of menorrhagia. A Prospective randomized trial with a two years follow-up carried out. 82 patients affected by menorrhagia unresponsive to medical treatment were respectively randomized to HTER or to TD of the endometrium Satisfaction rate was significantly higher in TD group. Reintervention rate was higher in the HTER. Postoperative pain was not significantly different between the two groups. Discharge time and complication rate were not significantly different between the two groups. TD of the endometrium for treatment of menorrhagia should be considered an effective therapeutical option for its acceptability among patients, shorter operative time.
