摘要
This paper presents an overview of the research in the multidisciplinary field of cognitive science related to the problem of knowledge acquisition, storage and retrieval from the brain. It presents some theories that are proposing mathematical models of learning processes and processes of storing and retrieving the acquired knowledge. Although these theories are primarily developed for the purpose of emulating learning processes in the field of artificial intelligence, the aim of this research is to study the proposed models in order to find more mechanistic approaches in teaching and learning and to explore the alternative teaching strategies. It is also anticipated that this work will contribute to a better understanding of the learning processes in the brain and therefore contribute to the development of new teaching and learning methods. As an extension of this work, the authors are interested in finding a set of parameters that can be proposed and reliably measured in order to improve the objectiveness of quantifying students' knowledge in a particular field.
