Fault Tolerant Topologies of Five-Level Active Neutral-Point-Clamped Converters

摘要
This paper proposed the fault tolerant topologies (FTTs) of five-level active neutral-point-clamped (5L-ANPC) converters. In the proposed approaches, the traditional 5L-ANPC converters are modified by adding a low count of low-cost components and are operated with the proposed control and modulation schemes. Simulation results show that the proposed 5L-ANPC FTTs can achieve fault tolerant operation under device open or short failure conditions, while generate the same maximum modulation index and the rated output power as normal operation. The proposed concept improves the reliability and availability of the 5L-ANPC converter systems.
