Design and development of an Integrated Quality Control system: The case of a machinery manufacturer

摘要
The objective of this paper is to describe the required components for development and implementation of an Integrated Quality Control (IQC) system. To achieve the above objective, a systematic database in context of Quality Information System (QIS) is developed. Data is stored, retrieved and exchanged electronically. In addition, Statistical Quality Control (SQC) and Statistical Process Control techniques (SPC) are integrated with the QIS to increase the efficiency of the IQC system. The IQC developed in this study can assess and control the quality of products and the internal and external factors affecting quality of products. Furthermore, the distinct feature of this study is existence of a mechanism in the IQC for evaluation of the performance of design, planning procurement and production departments. Also, it is claimed that the IQC of this study is a suitable and effective substitute for a Total Quality Control program. The prescribed framework is successfully implemented in a large industrial machinery manufacturer.
