摘要
Pinus radiata D. Don growing in Chile, South America, was hydro thermally treated and tested. With an increase of the temperature or the time of treatment an increase on mass loss and a reduction on wood density were determined. A reduction on bending strength and MOE was also detected. The maximum swelling (after conditioning in a water bath) increased and the pH value of water extracts decreases considerably with increasing temperature. The hydrothermal treatments produced a considerable colour change, the wood was turning darker.
