Are organophosphates really necessary?

Organophosphate agrochemical products have played a highly significant role in Global agriculture for decades but today are under pressure from regulators, NGOs, the media and the public. As fewer new insect control products are being discovered and developed, so any restriction will put pressure on existing chemistries with implications for higher costs to consumers, the development of resistance and problems of food quality. Several surveys have highlighted the impact of restricting OP use. If used in a safe and responsible manner, OPs still have a major role to play in World agriculture.
