摘要
Thermal Management in the Electric Vehicle is important to extend the life of the battery. This paper is about the design and modelling of pouch type battery for improving the thermal performance of the lithium ion battery with PCM (Phase Change Materials). For battery thermal management system, we considered RT15, RT31, EG5 and EG26 PCMs with thermal conductivities 0.2w/mk, 0.2w/mk, 7.0w/mk and 2.5 w/mk respectively. The temperature conditions range from 25 degrees C to 40 degrees C during charging and discharging of battery. The design of the battery module done in auto cad and the analysis done in ANSYS CFD software. From the simulation result, it was identified that enhanced thermal performance in battery pack with PCM is better than without PCM. The simulation results satisfy the design specifications.
