Green-Griffiths observed that we could eliminate obstructions to deforming divisors. Motivated by recent work of BlochEsnault-Kerz on deformation of algebraic cycle classes, we use Chern character to generalize Green-Griffiths' observation and to show how to eliminate obstructions to deforming cycles of codimension p.(c) 2022 Elsevier Inc.
