Pregnancy after severe burn injury - A case report

We report the case of a pregnancy in a 23-year old woman, who had suffered severe burn injuries (74% of her body surface) from an accidental electrocution at the age of 11 years. During pregnancy, medical care focused mainly on a controlled minimal weight gain in order to avoid overstretching the scars in the abdominal area. Despite widespread scarring of the body, it was possible to manage a normal pregnancy up to the 33 + 6 week. A primary cesarean section was then carried out. The postpartum course was uneventful, with primary healing of the wounds. Because of scarring of the breast nipples, breast feeding was not attempted.
