摘要
Following Self-Categorization Theory, the present study argues that self-stereotyping should be considered in examining the relationship between identification and ingroup bias. A study among Iranians living in the Netherlands was conducted. It was found that identification was related to self-stereotyping under conditions of group threat. Further, only self-stereotyping made a unique contribution to the explanation of ingroup bias. However, there was an interaction effect showing that self-stereotyping was related to ingroup bias for high identifiers. Future studies on ingroup bias are advised to examine the role of bath identification and self-stereotyping. Copyright (C) 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
