A PLATFORM FOR PERSONALIZED LEARNING PATHS

摘要
In an increasingly digital age, it becomes clear the need to adapt the processes and the teaching / learning methodologies, adapting to the profile of the students that we typically find in Higher Education Institutions. In fact, there are several studies that prove the advantages of a teaching and learning based on visual and multimedia objects, that allow the interaction of the students with the process itself, increasing the interest and motivation of the students, which allows to increase their motivation and participation in its process of developing skills. This paper describes the major guidelines to develop a learning platform at the Superior School of Media Arts and Design, Polytechnic of Porto, to support the definition and execution of personalized teaching/learning paths based on learning objects (videos, images, documents, quizzes, challenges, tests, etc.), to develop the students' skills in a given area, increasing their participation and motivation, and adapted in time and space to the characteristics of each one. The paper presents an exploratory study about the development of this tool, based also on concepts of gamification such as recognition, reward or levels, to promote the personalized and an adaptive learning. The main features and functionalities of the proposed platform are also described in this paper.
