摘要
With the advent of electronic books, the content industry (producers and suppliers) faced the need to develop a new business model to market the books in this new medium. These models are still little discussed in the academic literature and lack clarity on contractual and legal issues. The article proposes to elucidate the legal issues surrounding electronic book business models in order to facilitate future hires that better meet the library's objectives. To reach the objective the article was used the literature review methodology. The research reveals that while print books have solidified into a proprietary acquisition model, electronic books turn to a model of access provision, which implies loss of control of content by libraries. Of the five business models that the literature presents, one is geared toward acquisition, while the other four are geared toward providing access, just use. It is concluded that with the advent of electronic books, the content industry began to exercise greater control over the distribution of content, to the detriment of the library.
