摘要
The strengthening mechanisms, flow instabilities and property optimization in nanostructured metals produced by plastic deformation to ultrahigh strains are discussed based on mainly recent studies by the authors. In addition to the general mechanism of dislocation and boundary strengthening, the contribution of dislocation source hardening is introduced. The tensile instabilities in as-processed and annealed nanostructured metals are analyzed, and new approaches to optimize the structure and properties are demonstrated and discussed.
