ANALYSIS OF CHANGES IN STRUCTURAL AND FUNCTIONAL CHARACTERISTICS OF FINISHED KNITTED FABRICS

The aim of this paper is to investigate the changes induced by the finishing treatments on the structural parameters and physical-mechanical properties of dyed blended yarns plain knitted fabrics produced using a Stoll CMS 530 E 6.2 weft flat knitting machine. It was concluded that the structural and functional changes that appear after washing-degreasing operation depends on the raw material composition of the knits. Thus, the knitted fabrics made of natural and artificial fibers suffers much higher variations of the structural parameters, whereas the knits made of synthetic fibers leads to less significant changes. The results of this study can be used to improve the quality indices of these fabrics, by choosing the appropriate finishing technologies and the optimal parameters.
