摘要
Prof. Dr. Simone Baltrusch received the Ferdinand-Bertram Award from the German Diabetes Assoziation in May 2016 for her outstanding contributions to improve the knowledge of beta cell function. Her research focus is on the regulation of the beta cells in the islets of Langerhans and the pathomechanisms resulting in type 2 diabetes. In this field she participated in the clarification of (1) the glucose sensor enzyme glucokinase, (2) the role of the mitochondrial dynamic in the stimulus secretion coupling and (3) the control of the insulin granule movement. In this article Dr. Baltrusch summarizes the most important findings of her publications.
