Peptic ulcers are mostly induced by Helicobacter pylori gastritis. Eradication treatment of H. pylori may prevent the ulcer relapse. Tripel therapy with bismuth, metronidazole and a second antibiotic results in a high percentage of eradicated patients. Disadvantages are poor compliance and the resistance against metronidazole. Alternatively has proved the combination of omeprazole with two antibiotics. Thus, for the first time ulcer disease has become curable.
