Treatment of chronic subdural hematoma: One or two burr hole surgery?

Adult Patients operated on chronic subdural hematoma (cSDH) were investigated retrospectively referring to the causative agent, symptoms, complications, outcome and especially the surgical procedure. The study group consisted of 148 patients with uni- and bilateral cSDH. The primary opcrative procedure in the group of unilateral treated patients was in 27% a craniostomy with one burr hole and in 65% with two burr holes and one or two closed system drainages. Comparing the two methods there were no differences in the outcome and the revision rate.
