Natural radioactivity levels in Andalusian spas

Gross-alpha and gross-beta activity, Rn-222, Ra-226 and Ra-224 of waters from several spas of Andalusia (Spain) were performed in order to determine their radioactivity. Radon concentration ranged from 0.225 to 130 Bq/l. Ra-226 and Ra-224 concentrations ranged from 2 to 1367 mBq/l and from 2 to 122 mBq/l respectively. Correlations between the Rn-222 and Ra-226 concentrations and gross-alpha activity were obtained. A correlation between Ra-224 concentrations and gross-beta activity was also found.
