The lube oil industry has faced unprecedented changes in the process of manufacturing crude lube stocks. Furfural refining, ketone-benzol dewaxing, and clay finishing are selected and optimized respectively to process crude lube stocks. The recommended process conditions of two crude lube stocks were obtained. Group analysis, elemental analysis, 1H nuclear magnetic resonance (1H-NMR), and 13C-NMR were used to investigate the structural characteristics of different base oils. Experimental data show that the laboratory process method of lube oils has wide applicability to all sorts of different crude lube stocks, but the properties of base oils will depend on the chemical composition of crude lube stocks to a large extent.
