Uptake of uranium by red mud from aqueous solution

摘要
This paper studied the removal of uranium by red mud from aqueous solution. It performed dynamic tests to investigate variable factors such as reaction time, temperature and initial concentration. The test results indicated that the optimal conditions was 3 g/L of red mud, pH = 4.2, 24 hours of adsorption time, and 10 mg/L of initial uranium concentration at 25 degrees C. Under these conditions, the removal rates reached up to 73.25%. The results also indicated that the adsorption data fitted both the pseudo-second-order kinetic model and Langmuir equations.
