摘要
BP Amoco has set itself the target of reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, from its operations, by 10% by 2010, compared with a 1990 baseline. Over the past 2 years, we have been working proactively to produce externally verifiable baselines of GHG emissions. The next stage is to use these data to ensure that we meet our challenging GHG target in the most efficient manner. To this end we have applied a combined approach of operations based database and metrics. The database is populated with generic and operation specific technology options with metrics providing the analysis, communication and incentive for innovation. This paper describes: the approach and GHG metrics we used to assess and communicate our current position on identified reduction options, how we developed the intranet technology database, which has been used to: share knowledge on GHG reduction technologies compare cost efficiency of differing technologies What stretch we could apply to known abatement technologies, What innovative solutions were required how the data will support BP Amoco's GHG trading system.
