Determination of percolation thresholds for the correlated continuum percolation model

We measure the percolation thresholds for continuum percolation consisting of the equi-sized particles of the penetrable-concentric-shell (PCS) model. The PCS model consists of the totally impenetrable particles of diameter lambda sigma encompassed by fully penetrable shells of thickness sigma(1-lambda)/2, where lambda = 0 corresponds to the penetrable sphere model and lambda = 1 yields the hard sphere model. We confirm the universality of such a model and estimate, by Monte Carlo renormalization calculations the percolation thresholds for various values of the impenetrability parameter lambda. Accurate estimates indicate that the percolation transition occurs at the lowest density for lambda between 0.6 and 0.7.
