摘要
The importance of rainfall cannot be ignored. Fluctuations in rainfall can majorly impact people and especially the economy of a country that is majorly dependent on agriculture. Availability of water has a direct relation with the rainfall received over that region. This paper is on the trend analysis of rainfall in Jaipur, the capital city of the Indian state of Rajasthan. Temporal variation for monthly, seasonal (pre-monsoon, monsoon, and non-monsoon period), and annual rainfall trend analysis is done for the period of 61 years, ranging from 1957 to 2017. The major contribution of this paper is to identify whether there is an uptrend or a downtrend in the amount of precipitation received in the area under study. Daily rainfall data is collected from eight rain gauge stations installed by Water Resource Department, Govt of Rajasthan, fixed at various locations in the Jaipur district. It can be observed from the analysis that major rainfall occurs during the monsoon season (June-July-August-September).
