摘要
Despite of many attractive properties, low fracture toughness of Al2O3 with the presence of strength-limiting flaws in the fabricated materials has limited use for wider applications. Nano-powders of Mo and Al2O3 were synthesized during high energy ball milling. Nanostructured Mo-Al2O3 composite was consolidated within a short time from milled powders using high-frequency induction heated sintering. Fracture toughness of nanostructured 2Mo-Al2O3 was higher than that of monolithic Al2O3.
