Static and cyclic liquefaction of silty sands

摘要
Results of an experimental program on silty sands are presented. Drained and undrained triaxial compression tests, drained/undrained instability tests under load control, and undrained cyclic triaxial compression tests were performed. Unconventional behavior was observed with variations in confining pressure. Complete static liquefaction occurred at low pressures, while increased stability was observed at higher pressures. Increasing fines content increased the liquefaction potential. Results are analyzed using steady state concepts indicating some non-unique aspects to the steady state line.
