Status-Monitoring and Fault-Diagnosis Method for an Intelligent Building Wavelength Division Multiplexing Network

摘要
This article proposes and demonstrates a method for simultaneous real-time status monitoring and troubleshooting of a high-capacity bidirectional intelligent building access network that is based on wavelength division multiplexing techniques. The network integrity is verified from a central office. To avoid interference between the bidirectional traffic, downstream and upstream signals are assigned in different spectral bands. The two main parts of the monitoring and fault-diagnosis functions are a traffic-directing and amplification module and a signal-selection switch module. Fault-diagnosis test results are presented for a 35-km path between a central office and the building network over 10-Gb/s upstream and downstream links.
