摘要
Domain ontologies provide shared and common understanding of a specific domain. Our research is oriented towards possibilities of improving an e-learning system while integrating modern achievements in the fields of semantic web, and especially, ontology engineering. In this paper, we present the scope and purpose of ontology for "E-learning technologies" course, argue about manual development of domain ontology, and provide a brief introduction on formalisms (classes, relations, formal axioms, and instances) for knowledge representation on the ontological level. Also we analyse our experience in the ontology development process, discuss the problems in development of domain ontology for e-learning, and demonstrate the process of the ontology development in a case study.
