E-portfolios: An open source model

The proliferation of electronic portfolio systems available to higher education has been a source of confusion and hurried decision-making as institutions jump on the assessment bandwagon. This paper describes the conceptualization and development of an open-source system that serves the needs of a variety of stakeholders while building on the wealth of valued and existing processes and standards. Issues around conceptualization, adoption, institutional support, and infrastructure are explained and illustrated.
