3,6-Bis[2-(8-hydroxyquinolin-2-yl)vinyl]carbazole (4) and its Zn(II) complex 5 have been synthesized, and the former was identified by H-1 NMR, FTIR, MS spectra and elemental analyses. Their photoluminescence properties were measured on an F-2500 spectrometer. The results show that compound 4 is green-emitting (500 nm) and the fluorescence spectrum is obviously red-shifted at room temperature. Meanwhile, the fluorescene properties were discussed. The emission peak of compound 5 is at 600 nm and shows obvious red-shift compared with 2-methyl-8-quinolinolato zinc complex.
