The Circulation of English Verse in Manuscript after the Advent of Print in England

This article examines the circulation of manuscripts of contemporary English verse in the first half of the sixteenth century and considers their relationship to the emerging print culture during this period. It considers the factors that seem to have limited manuscript literary culture during this period and those that seem to have led to its reemergence during the second half of the sixteenth century.
