Behaviors of sediment transport for different grain sizes in hyperconcentrated floods of the lower Yellow River

摘要
Analysing the measured data from the Lower Yellow River, the paper illustrates the characteristics of the sediment transport and deposition for different grain sizes in the hyperconcentrated floods. When the flood happens in the Lower Yellow River, a considerable amount of sediment with different grain sizes deposits in the river. The coarse particles deposit more than the fine, thus the suspended load carried by the flood becomes finer and finer along the river due to the sorting of suspended load. The sediment transport capability of the flood is studied. The relations between the deposition and incoming sediment load for different grain sizes at the stations along the river are also established in this paper.
