摘要：
This paper presents the software architecture of a networked multimedia system for playing high quality multimedia content. The system models a search, preview and rent paradigm, allowing provision for billing the customers. The system is based on open platform including consumer set-top boxes based on the PC processor with Linux operating system, Linux based media servers and IP networking.
