摘要
Over the course of decades, researchers and companies have developed different types of tools to enable human interaction with computers. One such tool, the eye-tracking device, has the potential to be utilized in all daily life applications. Even though there are numerous eye-tracking units in the market, they are rarely used in day-to-day life. In this study, we present the potential of utilizing an eye-tracking device and its interface as a navigation controller of Google Maps, a popular navigation system. Our goal is to translate eye-gaze movement into joystick-like movement. We compare the performance of the eye-gaze tracking system and the joystick in several short tasks, fi nding little difference. The study also shows that it does not require extensive training for a beginner user to control the eye-gaze system smoothly.
