Ponderomotive force in a collisional warm two-fluid plasma

摘要
An expression for the ponderomotive force of high frequency electromagnetic waves in a warm two-fluid collisional plasma in an ambient magnetic field is obtained by a microscopic method. In addition to the previously known results of collisionless plasmas, the expression contains a term that explicitly reflects the resistive dissipation caused by collision between electrons and ions. This term is similar to the one obtained for an isotropic plasma by using the Vlasov equations, taking the dissipation by the resonant interaction of particles with the waves into account. It is also similar to those obtained by macroscopic methods. The range of the collision frequency for the validity of the result is presented along with other parameters, and compared with other results. (C) 2001 American Institute of Physics.
