SUBJECTIVELY PERCEIVED PARENTAL AND GRANDPARENTAL ENGAGEMENT RATE IN RELATION TO THE WELL-BEING OF ADOLESCENT

The aim of the research was to find out which dimensions of engagement of parents in complete families are related to adolescent well-being. The data from the Health behavior in school-aged children study from 2013/2014, collected in Slovakia, were used in the research. The research reflects the adolescent perspective of the involvement of father and mother in their lives. The sample consisted of 4082 adolescents from full-families. Using hierarchical linear regression - the stepwise method, we found a statistically significant positive relationship between the adolescent`s well-being and the following engagement dimensions: affection, behavioral control and psychological control on the father`s side, and affection and behavioral control on the mother`s side. An interesting finding was that the significant relationship between maternal psychological control in relation to the adolescent well-being did not show compared to father, where this relationship proved to be statistically significant.
