Stress-Strain Behavior of Municipal Solid Waste Using Constitutive Modeling Approach

A generalized constitutive model is proposed to predict the stress-strain behavior of municipal solid waste in undrained loading condition, based on the critical state soil mechanics framework that incorporates the effects of time dependent mechanical creep and time-dependent biodegradation. The model parameters are calculated based on laboratory one-dimensional compression and triaxial compression tests. The validation of proposed model is presented in terms of stress-strain response and compared with experimental as well as with hyperbolic model. The predicted results from proposed model give good agreement with experimental results.
