Simultaneous chemiluminescence determination of iron(II) and iron(III)

摘要
The conditions for the catalytic oxidation of luminol with peroxycaprylic and peroxycapric acids in the presence of iron(II) and iron(III) were studied. It was found that iron(II) and iron(III) identically catalyze the oxidation of luminol with peroxycapric acid. The oxidation of luminol with peroxycaprylic acid is catalyzed only by iron(II), whereas iron(III) is inactive. Based on the results obtained, a chemiluminescence procedure was developed for the simultaneous determination of iron(II) and iron(III) with a detection limit of 5 x 10(-9) M (0.3 ng/mL).
