An overview is given of reasons for developing and adopting a new Web-based model of teaching in the field of instrumentation and measurement. Descriptions are presented of the Internet and a multimedia-based educational model, the structure and tools of the electronic books and virtual laboratory, and the distance learning privided by Warsaw University of Technology (WUT), Warsaw, Poland.
